The Bronde Blvd Difference
What Is
Balayage?
Balayage is a French hair coloring technique, the word means "to sweep" where color is painted directly onto the hair by hand. The result is a gradual, sun-kissed gradient that blends seamlessly with your natural hair color, with zero harsh lines and a finish that grows out beautifully.
01
Freehand Technique
Color is swept onto each section by hand, no foil, no cap. Every stroke is intentional, creating dimension that moves naturally with your hair.
02
Completely Customized
Your skin tone, natural base, and lifestyle all shape the placement. The result should look like your hair, just better.
03
Free Consultation Included
Every balayage at Bronde Blvd starts with a complimentary consultation. We'll talk through your goals and price it out before a single brush is lifted.
The Process
How It Works
01
Step 01
Complimentary Consultation
We discuss your desired color, the placement that will suit your face and hair type, and give you exact pricing — before we start.
02
Step 02
Sectioning & Backcombing
Your stylist sections the hair and backcomes to soften the color transition, creating the seamless blend that defines a great balayage.
03
Step 03
Freehand Color Application
Color is hand-painted section by section, starting from mid-shaft and sweeping toward the ends. Processing takes 30–45 minutes depending on your desired result.
04
Step 04
Rinse, Tone & Style
After processing, hair is rinsed, toned to your desired tone, shampooed, conditioned, blow-dried, and finished. You leave ready for the world.

How to Maintain
Your Balayage
🧴
Use Color-Safe Products
Sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and conditioner are non-negotiable. Sulfates strip color and dry out hair, especially chemically treated strands.
🌡️
Limit Heat Styling
Excessive heat fades color faster than anything else. Always use a heat protectant before styling, and keep tools at or below 350°F to preserve your balayage.
☀️
Protect Against UV
Sun exposure fades color significantly over time. Use a leave-in conditioner with UV protection, or wear a hat on long days outdoors to keep your tone vibrant.
🪮
Schedule Regular Toning
Toning or glossing treatments between your full balayage appointments refresh the tone and add shine. They're quick, affordable, and make a big difference in vibrancy.
💧
Deep Condition Weekly
Balayage-treated hair is more prone to dryness. Use a hair mask or deep conditioner once a week to keep strands moisturized, strong, and looking their best.
✂️
Trim Regularly
Regular trims every 8–10 weeks prevent split ends from traveling up the hair shaft. Healthy ends make your color and cut look dramatically better.

Longevity
How Long Does
Balayage Last?
A well-executed balayage typically lasts 4 to 6 months before it needs a refresh. Because the color is placed away from the root, the grow-out is gradual and natural, not a hard line.
Touch-up frequency depends on your hair growth rate and how much vibrancy you want to maintain. Most clients return every 3–5 months for toning or a partial refresh.
A full appointment runs 2 to 3 hours from consultation to styled finish, depending on hair length and thickness.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Highlights use foil to isolate strands and apply color with precision, resulting in brighter, higher-contrast images. Balayage is painted freehand, which creates a softer, more blended gradient. Highlights are great for maximum brightness; balayage is the go-to for a natural, sun-kissed look that\'s easier to grow out.
Absolutely, balayage is one of the most flattering techniques for dark hair. It adds warmth and dimension without the commitment of full color. Depending on how light you want to go, multiple sessions may be needed to lift the hair gradually without compromising its health.
Pricing is based on hair length, thickness, and the scope of color placement, not a flat rate. Every client is different, which is why we always do a complimentary consultation before quoting. That way you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.
Use a purple or blue toning shampoo once or twice a week to neutralize brassiness between appointments. Regular toning glosses at the salon also help. Avoiding hard water, sun exposure, and over-washing will all extend the life of your tone significantly.
Because balayage grows out so naturally, most clients return every 3–5 months either for a toning refresh or a full re-application. The frequency really depends on how fast your hair grows and how bright you want to maintain the result. Your stylist will guide you on the right schedule.
